Creating Lasting Memories: A Tribute to Hunting with My Nephew

When we are young, we look at life as though it will last forever. We don’t realize that the moment we are sharing with a friend or family member might be the last.

The Beginning of Our Hunting Journey

I took my nephews hunting since they were kids and watched them grow into adults who continued hunting on their own. Every year I would grab my bow and drive a few blocks away to pick up my nephew Jay. We hunted on the weekends when we had off work and had lots of laughs together. I helped him get his first deer with a gun and bow. I taught him how to shoot, track, clean, and cook all the game we loved.

The Bond We Shared

Jay was like a little brother to me, and I loved sharing the things my father taught me with him. When I got a call to go to the hospital to say goodbye to him at forty years of age, it was devastating for all of his friends and family because he was so loved by us all.

Cherishing Every Moment

Our hunting trips were more than just about the game; they were about the bond we shared, the lessons learned, and the memories created. From the excitement of tracking a deer to the satisfaction of a successful hunt, every moment was cherished.

In Memory of Jay

Losing Jay was a painful reminder of the fleeting nature of life. But the memories of our time together, the lessons learned, and the laughter shared, will forever be a part of me. I encourage everyone to cherish their moments with loved ones and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Our memories are all we have in the end, so you better make them good ones!
