Every year, it's fun to see the new gadgets that come out to help us sportsmen get an advantage over our intended game or fish. We love our tools and toys. One year, I was watching a deer hunting video and saw a guy using an ozone-making machine. He said it made human scent almost impossible for animals to smell. I laughed at the thought. Then I talked to someone who was a trusted friend and avid hunter. I bought this Ozonics machine and it is the real deal! I've had deer, coyotes, and foxes directly downwind walk right past me, not knowing I was there. Not just does and fawns either. I have taken a few bucks that for sure would have busted me without Ozonics.
Some other tools I have used and recommend are pretty standard for any successful hunting trip:
Boots: Keeping your feet warm and dry is crucial. Rocky Gortex boots are rugged footwear perfect for walking and climbing hills and fields. For stand hunting or snowy conditions, I recommend something with Thinsulate or a felt liner, like Lacrosse Cold Snap, Alpha Burly, or Cabela's Winter Saskatchewan. These are comfortable boots you won’t get cold in.
Clothing: Now that I’m getting a little older, I like to layer up with a nice set of wool jacket and pants to keep out the wind and wet. Cabela's carries several good options. But the new heated clothing is a bit more lightweight. I found several options on Amazon, like heated base layers or camouflage options.
Any of these items will work just as well with a fishing rod in your hand. I try to find gear that has good overlapping qualities.
Embrace the technology and tools available to us. These gadgets and gear can make all the difference in your hunting and fishing adventures. Happy hunting!
